"oh ! and start searching for ancient religious artifacts !"
That's not as hard as you might think! They do some seriously odd things in the Bronze Age. I spent a long time studying a tomb in the south of the island, and you get the impression that they were into some weird things - they have these small idol-type statues, they were eating food in the tombs, possibly de-fleshing and cannibalistically eating the bodies, moving the bones around, shamanism & altered states of conciousness via drugs, booze, dancing, fasting. It is all religious in it's way. Bizarre!
Actually I'm talking shop now, sorry! I could go on, & on, & on

The jacket's in Nottingham at the moment (I left it at a conference, but will pick it up soon).
And the hat is in the left hand 'Blue Room' at the back, second storage shelf up, in a box marked "Tim C-G" (for 'tis my name) at the Stratigraphical Museum, Knossos, Crete, nestled among piles of excavation & drawing gear, water packs, and dessicated cicadas (dont ask!).
However, i shall dig some photos out (no pun intended), hang on!

Ok
Here we go.
Me at a site called Trypiti Phylakas which we surveyed/excavated over the last few years (hence the surveying pole!). The reason i'm able to post during the day is that i'm in my study trying to be write the pottery report for the settlement nearby (which is on the hill in the foreground in the second photo, Trypiti Phylakas is the small spit of land into the sea beyond that) Part of the resason i love the job is that you get sights like that to work in (the land, not me!). And by the way, I'm not actually that tubby, the wind was blowing my tshirt!
Hope the photos work!

Thanks Andy
Once you put the hat on, you develop a strut, a confident swagger, and there is a definite ochestral theme song that accompanies you around

"dum de dum dum, dum de dum, dum de dum dum, dum de dum dum dum"

Wow. That looks brilliant. I always thought a Palaeontologist or and Archaeologist would be a cool job. I had to settle for gardening. Have you unearthed any secret caches of AF figures?

No Af figs yet... not sure if they had them in Greece? I'll ask next time i'm there!
It is a great job, but pays badly unless yo can land a lecturing post, or similar salaried position- if not, then it's all freelance!
You being a gardener must have found some... i mean we've all lost figs/guns in the soil whilst we were playing - they can't all fall victim to the Action Force Gnomes who come into our homes at night and steal small parts from our collections (usually the expensive ones to replace) to satisfy their insane craving for vintage plastic.
And i'm only half joking about their existence... i know i had the Kraken's net safely put aside somewhere
