IIRC, Hong Kong is a self-administered territory of China, so you need a visa to enter China.

a swift check of wikipedia reveals that Hong Kong is indeed a self-governed territory. it's on dependent on China for foriegn policy and defence. HK sets its own financial, immigration and legal policies and has its own currency...
