Thats "Rowdy" Roddy Piper to you young man! Or Mr Piper. Otherwise he'll crack a coconut over your head.

I liked Event Horizon too. Even if Sam Neil is a sh*t stirring wanker, it was a good film IMHO. Haven't seen The Thing, but should get around to it (I'm also on a superhero movie bent atm). Ghost of Mars I don't remember. It came out about the same time as Mission to Mars and Supernova iirc. I think I have it here tho, will have to re-watch.

Anyone seen the stop motion tribute to The Thing done with GI Joe figures? It's brilliant, I'll try and find a link.

They Live rules, I came here to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and I'm all out of bubblegum!!!

Ah, The Thing... Another bona fidé genre classic. It's also one that, like ALIEN, simply doesn't age. Thanks to the 'neutral' setting and quality of the production, it also could have been made recently.

John Carpenter has produced a few turkeys in his time, but if The Thing was the only good film he made, it would still qualify him as a genius. As it happens, I also rate The Fog, Halloween, Escape from New York, Assault on Precint 13 and Prince of Darkness (yes, I like it!) - It isn't my favourite by a long way, but They Live was pretty cool, especially that insane fight scene: Just put the damn glasses on already!!!

it's pretty incredible isn't it? It's one of the best stop-motion films I've done by toys :)

Honestly, living with Eddie is like living with a corporeal version of the IMDB - I have never met anyone who can identify every person in a movie and tell you what else they've been in (and sometimes by only hearing their voice). I think it was 850 DVD's in his collection at the last count... I'd like to say it was "our" collection, but I've probably contributed only about ten of those...
