Re: Swordfish prototype with hatch ?
Looks like it could of been used as part of the satterlite defence?
Any idea how big this part is?

well spotted !!!Dave Tree wrote:sorry this has taken a while to sort out, but the office machine has all the pics and usually log on to the forum from home, but here we are:Dave Tree wrote:That one is a prototype too, the production version of the Crusier has 3 engines in a triangle, whereas that has two engines at the top. As for the snowspeeder, it looks like it's been based around the engine part, but it's not the actual part itself used.Thundershot wrote:the Cosmic Cruiser on the card back photo looks to have parts off the SW Snow Speeder used for the jets..or am I just mad?
I have come across a similar piece before with the Millennium Falcon radar dish. It was vaccum cast from the piece itself, which is injection moulded. This process produces a lower quality product, not as detailed, so begs the question as to why they would have vac formed such a piece as injection moulding gives a much stronger and beeter quality piece, unless it was used in a mock up, display or to use as base for another piece, like the Cruiser engine.
I'll sort out an image to show. It's worth mentioning this was in amoungst the Boffin - but does not 100% that this was intended for Action Force.
Dave.
From the looks of the part, it looks like it could have been for some kind of hatch maybe? There are hinges with arrows drawn on, which might indicate where this piece might have connected with another piece?
Either way, it's pretty cool, and may have been used for a mock up or formed the basis of something else.
Dave.
I think you have hit the nail on the head !

Re: Swordfish prototype with hatch ?
well I'll be, that's fantastic, I've never owned a Satelite Defense, but there you go, full proof that Star Wars parts were used along with GI-JOE to kit bash new vehicles
Which also means that there's your first pre-production prototype for the toy too
Good spot and I'm soooooooooooo happy that this has been solved

Re: Swordfish prototype with hatch ?
I showed the SatDef/ Falcon Radar to my friend, who freaked just the same as I did. I directed him to the site and talked through the possibility of further kitbashes.
And what do you know, within about 30 seconds the jammy muthahubbard spotted one straight away which I had, but never connected
The hatch on the Sealion is a retool of the hatch from Star Wars Scout Walker.

how freakin cool is that?
Dave.

Re: Swordfish prototype with hatch ?
Chad-ghosts recent post has reminded me of another kitbash duplicate. The Laser Exterminator / HAL control panel, the Command Centre computer bank and the Triad Fighter console are all tooled from the same mould.

We could do with some better loose Laser Exterminator photos if anybody has a decent one.
