Original Prices of AF.
Re: Original Prices of AF.
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

Re: Original Prices of AF.
Suddenly I feel very sorry for the toy shop that sold the Space Commander in my collection for 95p (as the sticker on the card says) and only made 3p profit (or a complete loss if they bought it at the wrong time of year)!Dave Tree wrote:Wholesale prices.
This is what Palitoy sold to toyshops at.
I'll break this down year by year otherwise it gets difficult to make sense of.
1983
Figures in solid cases of either SAS, Q-Force, Enemy, Space or Heavy Weapons (not refferred as Z Force).
No mixed cases.
Sold either as 24 or 48 in a case.
£0.92 - £1.04 per figure depending on time of the year.
Vehicle Prices 1983 (number in brackets indicates how many in a case):
Para Attack (12) £2.59 each.
Boat Patrol (12) £2.59 each.
Attack Cannon (18) £2.87 each.
Rapid Fire Motercycle (12) £3.16 each.
AF3 Jeep (6) £3.48 - £4.63 each depending on time of year ordered.
Dive Platform (6) £3.48 each.
AF5 (6) £4.64 each.
Shadowtrack (6) £4.92 each.
Laser Exterminator (6) £5.22 each.
Base HQ (6) £6.96 each.
Interesting that the Diving Platform, AF3 and AF5 were still being offered after the multi-force/Red Shadows version of AF had been launched, especially when AF5 and the Shadowtrack were pretty much the same thing and the AF5 cost less! Getting rid of the old stock I guess.

Go track him down and spare another 3p, at least he would have doubled his profits
Palitoy had some very strange discounting stucture I've yet to work out, however there were rebates for some orders, Sale or Return and % discounts on how many of a certain item were ordered. The prices I posted up were their base price, but I'm sure if several cases were ordered, there would be some form of discount.
It also looks like the discounts were down to the individual area sales rep too.
