The back of a Commando from the same salesman.

Hard to tell but it looks like the number underneath might be different again.

My guess is the B numbers are SKUs.
Modern action figures have similar numbers. For example the GI Joe 50th figures:
Classic Clash B4061
Hunt for Cobra Commander B4063
These also have an assortment number (B0053) which relates to how they are packed. So as a retailer I can order case B0053 and know it contains 2 Classic Clash, 2 Hunt for Cobra Commander, etc.).

Interesting - I've not seen any Series 1 packing crates to see if that works. Also, in the catalogue the numbers are different. But they may have had an internal system for stock keeping.

Quest complete! I've updated the list.
I have a suspicion the scratchcard effect may be related to the early releases on the English Language card only. Any thoughts, anyone?

Maybe down to different Series 1 card back phases, as described in Hopper's post ->

You bugger!

You could have just let it lie, kept quiet, not published.
And all would have been happy and flowers and unicorns and rainbows...

But no, there you go!

Joking aside, this is interesting! So what we have then is 2 different numbers for some figures? This has to be either phase related, or variant related. Difficult to tell with just the cardbacks, but it seems that the earlier numbers (beginning 10xx) would be the Phase 1A and the Type 1 variants, the later (beginning 15xx) being Phase 1B and the Type 2.

So, chaps, the onus is now on you MOC guys to try and track down some more double numbers!

HELP!

The German Stormtrooper came from LDR's spares, via ex-palitoy employee auction

along with the Commando that has painted green pockets & code B1096
