Slippy - got to say I had an amazing time. Went up the East Coast - from Surfers Paradise up to Port Douglas, and stopped off at pretty much most places up that side on the way. Pretty much everywhere is really nice, and the folks there were generally really nice too. The bigger towns are more like our towns. The smaller places are, well, a bit small, with not much nearby. And their idea of a town centre is laughable sometimes! They are like our out of town shopping parks, but they have them as town centres! All felt rather American to me.
Then went to Sydney for a week, which again is really nice - bit like London, but nicer weather, and cleaner!
Personally, I wouldn't emigrate there myself, as I'd miss a lot of the European culture and how close we are to other places, but that's me. Everyone I spoke to over there (and I have a habit of speaking to random people at length - especially when I've had a few Shandys) who had emigrated from the UK, said it's the best thing they have ever done, and that they have never looked back. So it sounds promising for you mate!
Hope it all works out well for you - I'm sure it will!
Oh, one more thing - they were absolutely gutted that we did better than them at the Olympics! HA! Bad losers!!!
