Its the Hypno Toad from Futurama. The idea in the show is that its a Toad that hypnotizes people to do its bidding. Hence the hypnotic avatar. You are feeling very sleeply and want to send me lots of Action Force........

I thought you knew your military history Chopper. OK not a good showing in WWII for the Italians but they never wanted to fight in the first place. They put in a bloody good show on the Allies side in WWI and with them opening up another front it meant most of the Austrian forces were kept from bolstering German forces on the Western front.
They've also sent troops to Iraq and Afghanistan not like the cowardly French

More a reference to their WW2 desert campaign. Most were happy to surrender from what I recall. Lets also not forget the Legions.
