Gunshot holes in the soler panels? maybe the crows nest could have a "glass bubble" type cover?
If the pirates are warering space suites, you could get away with an open deck..
Sounds good ! I am currently trawling Ebay for a suitable base vehicle, Playmobil do a nice pirate ship but its bloody massive !!!!!

Oh,Oh you've gotta have a plank ..& a crows nest...& a barrel of space rum!
OK these are great ideas but I need to keep it looking spacey ! not sure if I could get away with an open top deck ?

If I incorporate a plank it would have to be airlocked somehow as would the crows nest ?

having said that I dont want to end up making this look shiney and new, I would prefer something derelict looking .... almost like the Flying Dutchman ...... in Space !
one way of keeping it spacey would be to paint things silver and add "space" before the name!

silver space crows, silver space planks, its bound to work!

I dont want to spend a lot of money on a base vehicle, although postage on this size of vehicle is going to be pretty steep !

Darth Vaders Star destroyer or the Rebel troop transporter could be convertable ?
