"Oh look, it's registered to some bloke in the UK"
"Forget it, then."

Also the costs of producing it ourselves were ridiculous, and we have no distribution capabilities, and we'll never see them in the comics. Convincing Hasbro and getting them made as an official team is the best plan, and the best start is to get the existing DDP characters made into figures and build upon that - I suggested that in out first Q&A.

i remember the q&a but feel if we had some legal right to the property and were willing to work with hasbro or another toy company there would be a better chance of being taken seriously. i know this is all ifs/ands/buts and wishes but i would love an AF comeback, like us all.

It would be highly unlikely to claim a legal right over something that wasn't created by any of us and technically speaking is actually the Intellectual Property of Hasbro. All Palitoy IP was transferred to Hasbro. I'm frequently asked if a 'privately funded' resurrection would be possible, but you only have to look no further than the 40th Anniversary Action Man sets - which use Palitoy branding - to see that Hasbro have ultimate ownership, even of something that they historically did not oversee.

I personally believe the best approach would be to support Hasbro to eventually do repaints of current JOE's and then new sculpts, so they are included offically. This is much better long term for all involved.

Things are always in motion and you never know that with the right approach and work, you may see an official release of sorts at some point. I also think to grow a regular UK based event would be a very positive move and go a long way quickly to make things happen sooner.

Dave.

in regards to an event, how expensive would it be to lay one on?

i think that would depend on where it's held and who's invited. a piss-up down the pub's going to be cheaper than hireing out the NEC and having it hung with Red Shadow banners and populated with a bunch of cheap actors dressed in replica Red Shadow unis...

OBVIOUSLY... it's a matter of scale...
