Just putting my serious head on, I went through nearly a dozen ebay disappointments until I found a harness with an unbroken side clip. If yours is intact I advise never removing the figure.
I have

on display with his harness in place, but with the parachute unclipped from the four points by his head. He looks great.
OK, resume stupid suggestions! What about the inside cradle from a hardhat?

I already have the figure on display with the harness.
I just thought it was a shame to hide away my parachutes and not display them.
but several hours later I think it may be for the best !!!!

What about a lamp shade?
I am not sure and probably not safe! but if you disassemble your light fitting stick the cord through the hole in the parachute, then reassemble with the lampshade , you can have a s.a.s. lightshade/ nightshade?
I should point out this is a fire risk and should not be seriously considered!

Here's two parachutes I've displayed. These are Power Team Elite parachutes found at a discount store named Big Lots
I mounted these using lightweight, bowls made of weaved twine (Or something like it) then I grabbed a metal coat hanger and straightened it out. Made a small loop in the middle (Where a nail will hold it up)too the two ends and had them curve out and made a small loop at the end of that (So they didn't poke through the bowls)
If the parachute has a hole in the middle of it, an easier way would be to get a lighweight plastic bowl, poke a small hole in the top of it and run fishing line out the top of it.
