why did companies make some toys gi joe style and others in the range star wars style?
this always bothered me with a team toys when i was a nipper

You mean these guys....
Just been noticing that with the CHIPS too - the cops are jointed, but Wheels and Jimmy aren't. Same with the Dukes of Hazzard 3 3/4 inch - Bo and Luke were jointed with O rings. All the rest are far less articulated. All I can think is it's to suit the vehicles - particularly the bikes for Chips. Although having said that with the Dukes Bo and Luke had the General, but Daisy had her jeep too, and BOss and Rosco had cars, and they are Star Wars stlye non-jointed.
Bizarre!

I just remembered I had the General Lee as a kid, the roof flipped open to get the figures in and out.

It did indeed! Mine unfortunately didn't make it over a death defying drain jump one day. I did manage to fish it out, but it stunk to high heavens, and shortly thereafter "disappeared" when Mum was tidying up!
