Wow, yes, it would be great to be able to finish off APCs with an antenna....! Cool idea!
There is a really good standard practice used for making repros that satisfies both the need for parts, and the need to keep original parts, original...
Most people I know who make repro pieces, do "something" with the piece to make it identifiable as repro (so as not to ever have it confused with the original part). I know of one guy who etches a tiny stamp into the plastic - but more usually, the makers just change the color of the piece.
As an example, the much sought after brown microphone for the GI Joe Heavy Metal figure, has been reproduced in black (good color choice
That way, collectors and diorama builders get to finish off their figures without compromising - at all - the hobby itself.
If I may make a suggestion, I think it would be awesome if the APC antenna were available in bright red (the way it is on the box art!). Would that work for you, Paul? If you do that, please sign me up for a 2 or 3! Thanks!
I think they would look great on the APC!
I just went upstairs and snapped some pictures of the 3 antennas: (As was mentioned earlier, they're all the same mold)

Take care,
Aire

Wow thanks for posting thsoe pics Airedevon, I was starting to wonder if there were ay of those green antenna left!
I get what you're saying about the need to make repro identifiable, that's cool, but I far prefer something like a stamp to a colour variant, especially in this instance. We could always put a mark or stamp of the peg itself, the bit that is hidden from sight.
I guess bloodforthebaron is a bit too long to put on it?

Well, bugger me!!!!
The holy grail at last!! I thought I'd never see one!
Thank you for the pics Aire.
Interesting suggestion on the red aerial, too. If twenty people want one then I can get some red ones made [a la the proto on the box front] as the molds are sorted now, just need to sort the colour.
If anyone wants red, let me know please....

Hmm the red one is a completely different shape though. Is there anything in the Joeverse to match it?
Re: Z Force Armoured Troop Carrier Aerial
I'll pass on the buggering bit! In the hope that I do eventually get an APC (keep being out bid at the last second) could you put me down for two please. I will PM you with my contact details cheers.

When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?
Re: Z Force Armoured Troop Carrier Aerial
Yeah dude. It's a nice pic and all, but...

I forgot that the red prototype aerials were different from the final, released green ones.
So scratch that idea from the record and its back to green ones...

Re: Z Force Armoured Troop Carrier Aerial
My 2 cents: I think combining the color of the prototype with the mold of the released version would be awesome! And, Paul, if your guy could make some of them in red, I would very much like to buy them.
If you still do green ones, please be sure to ask the guy to make them identifiable as repros. It's very important to a lot of enthusiasts -- and everyone wins that way! (In the past few years repros in the Action Man hobby have caused many problems among collectors - hopefully, that can be avoided here.)
Good luck!
Thanks,
Aire

Re: Z Force Armoured Troop Carrier Aerial
I reckon cutting an X into the bottom of the peg should do it, unless there's a favoured method?
