You know it's weird. I too live in a small town and have seven, yes seven charity shops. You would think the chances of finding something good would be quite high...?

Best thing I ever found was this Postman Pat Car !!
I did find a 'Tiny Tears' doll once but left it because it because she was missing a leg !

The best find i've had in a charity shop is the one which started my transformer boxed collection. It was a boxed Generation One Galvatron complete for £1.50 in the PDSA in york. I've also picked up a few action force figures.
