Andy, not wanting to diminish your excellent work, but I think your observed "boxiness" is caused by the depth of the windscreen frame.

I know the windscreen is a bit flat and chunky, which does spoil the overall effect.

I made that part out of MDF because it was quicker and easier so purposly left it thick so it wouldnt be too brittle.

If I remade it from nylon I could make it thinner ..... and tilt it back slightly .....

the more I look the more I want to change the windscreen !

when I get time I will file the frames thinner and make 2 new clear pieces to fit.

If it becomes too flimsy then I will take the plunge and shape a new one from either nylon or aluminium.

It looks great Andy, utterly awesome in fact. I think a Lynx for Chopper would be better than a Herc tho

For the windscreen, why not use a thin sheet of perspex, & just paint th frame onn around the edges?, or you could just stick thin strips of plastic around the edges instead of paint..

I've thought of using a large diameter plastic drainage pipe to use as a starting point re' a Herc' fuselarge, with a balsa wood frames covered in plastic for the wings..remember someone posted a link to a custom ome a few months back? That one used plastic knives for prop's, that worked really well & would be cheaper than buying off the shelf model ones ones.

That's a good idea - maybe even use matchsticks?

Looks great Andy. The Herc idea would be good too, it would make a lovely talk point in the centre of your living room!

I have removed the boxey windscreen ! no turning back now .... thanks for the input

OK a few bits of thin plastic wrapped around a piece of clear perspex removes some of the boxiness ?
