i finally gave up on trying to clean up the Cobra logo and did what Baby suggested, i whited out the Cobra logo, isolating Destro, recoloured the background a godawful pink, invert-colour selected the pink and then pasted Destro into a new image with a new logo i got from a Google-image search.

i've also done Storm Shadow - including cleaning up his ninja duds and the sword blade...
and the X-19 stealth jet
my next two will be Hit&Run and Beach Head

They look great, and that smaller logo looks a lot better for some reason.

Nice! Excellent work blending the cover piece with the original poster! Or did you clean up the fold lines in the end?
