Alyoshas Store is back up
Re: Alyoshas Store is back up
I'd say we go in with Baron, Black Major & (crucially) Red Shadows, to keep a theme going of the "bad guys" initially, and possibly point out to them that most buyers would likely only be looking at one Baron, one Major, and lots of Shadows so they knew what they were getting themselves into?
Just me two shillings worth, and you could certainly count me in as interested.

one question on the Black Major or something to consider
would you send pictures of Wilder Vaugh so we could get a black major like that? as he was revealed later on in Americas elite just add the cap or would you do an original look?
I would prefer the later AE issue where they reveal Vaugh to be the Black major to be honest, just add a cap!
this way my old black major I can still use for a young black major LOL

Even tho i would prefer a shad i think its only right that our glorious leader should be immortalised first so i would have to go for the Baron. I'm working on a baron custom at the moment funnily enough.
I know its a bit off topic but i didnt realise how tricky this customising lark is. any advice re painting the joints. gonna try sanding down a bit use lots of thin coats and then varnish but this is really time consuming. have also been advised to pop out all the joints then paint then replace. also havin problems with neck joints. i may actually start a new thread in the customs section about this

Hmm actually, yeah. Just go for Shads at first, Ironblood, Major (definitely younger for me) and a Shadow troop builder may be more sensible.
Double-tap, that's been a long-standing problem, I think TKW hit upon the winning formula of using bare arms with rolled-up sleeves.

Re: Alyoshas Store is back up
well a good compromise on the black major would be too just make two heads
same body ( they could sell twice the figures that way )
and whos going to put something together? and take this over.
I would do it but I NEVER get a reply from the guy ( long story )

Re: Alyoshas Store is back up
ive never had much problem with any joints except the arms... they always rub on any custom ive seen no matter how well they are painted...
necks, knees, waists are all no problem, just a few thin layers do the trick but I never paint arms, I use rolled sleeves where I cant get a match from existing arms... necks can be tricky as a lot of heads only work in a few torsos, they can either be too tight or too loose...

i have a couple of customs that i've finished but the paint keeps cracking and its putting me off. i'm gonna strip the arms back down and try a couple of ideas i have.
Does anyone know if you can thin the paints down with varnish? gonna dremmel the shoulder and elbows down a bit and try a few thin coats of the varnish/paint mix. dont have any varnish so if anyone knows that this dosent work it would save me buying some

Re: Alyoshas Store is back up
what paints are you using? acrylics can crack easily but humbrol enamels are more hard wearing... you can thin enamels with enamel thinner or a little white spriit...
a dremel might make the joints a bit too rough, id suggest trying a different pair of arms unless they are the original ones for that torso as some fit tighter than others in different parts...

Re: Alyoshas Store is back up
You know with all the chinese "well done" knockoffs of GI JOE and transformer figures it seems like, if there was some way we could contact them , then they could make Red Shadows and Action Force characters pretty easily and without fear of getting in too much trouble
To be honest I have looked into this but I can find a way to contact these people
and has anyone contact alyosha? with those pics??
