They were mass produced, I would doubt they would come bagged to be de bagged and then carded. Ido think these were the comic book version. Just my opinion.
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

The only comic one i have seen so far has a palitoy logo splashed across the front..

Mine that came with the comic have no palitoy logos and are bagged exactly as per the previous pic.

Did anyone here ever have their letter published in the comic?
If so.. which figure, that you received for getting your letter printed, did you receive & how was it packaged?

I was wondering if all figures were released in BAF or just a select few? Overstock etc?
