I was fully expecting them to drop the part where they go to Beorn's house but I'm glad they're keeping it in.
Still not sure about the Galadriel and Legolas bits they've put in but I'll reserve judgement until I've seen the film.

No Tom Bombadil in there Baron! But I get a feeling that Sylvester McCoy's character is heavily influenced by him, and I can't remember him from the book, but admit it is a long time ago that I last read it!

I read all the books from Silmarillion to Return of the King a few years back I now have Children of Hurin but I haven't read it and don't know where it fits in.

I got half way into the first chapter of the Hobbit & just got fed up...despite adoring Star Wars, which shares many of the same story telling elements, this type of swords & sorcery fantasy have never appealed to me.

I love the Hobbit and LOTR but dont like anything else of its kind. But then Tolkein has a fascination for me, just bought his Letters From Father Christmas book which contains letters he wrote as Father Christmas to his kids and its brilliant.

I'm with you, Mat. I love his stories but have yet to fall in love with any other writers fantasy novels. I think its because the others just re-hash what he already did. Its like Sci Fi films after Star Wars, very few cut the mustard. The hype in the media is going banana's over here, only a week to go.......
BTW, my son has been out in the backyard massacring Uruk's and Orks all week.
