Phwoar!!!
Chopper wrote:How many other shows are rip off's? One of my faves is "The Forbidden Planet". Its Shakespeare. It doesn't make it less of a film, it makes it a genius adaptation. Its impossible to make somebody believe they aren't enjoying something because someone else has a rational (or irrational) argument either. Emotion is not quantitative. Never will be.
Incidentally I'll most likely be seeing Trek again on Sunday. Just for my own peace of mind, SC
I coudn't agree with you more, especially when it comes to Forbidden Planet, but like you say, it's all perspective; emotion is NOT quantitive. And one of my pals who hasn't seen Trek yet wants to go next week, so that's another trip for me too . I hope you continue to find it enjoyable!

I thought I'd use my "birthday post" (1977 - woooooo hooooooooo!!!!) to declare Choppers quote above the quote of the day!
Not just because it's a cool quote, but it sums up that entertainment is subjective. It's up to you what you like and not for others to declare something is better for this reason or that reason. It's a matter of personal opinion.
I love some shows that are weak on plot line, poorly acted, or just downright crap. Doesn't stop me from liking them! One of my best shows of all time, as the Avatar suggests, was Up Pompeii. It never had a story, well, not one that they actually got round to, but that was the story. My other half hates it, as do most of my mates. Similar with the Dukes of Hazzard - another old show that I've never grown out of, but the story was pretty much the same each week. My point is, there isn't a "better show", it depends what you are looking for from the show and the bond you form with it.
Hence, I'm with Chopper - "if I think it's great, it f*cking rocks!"
(besides, I've never watched B5 or DS9)
ANd there we have it! The birth year post! 23 to go Baron? And an afternoon full of appointments! The pressure is on!!!

I stuck with Bab'5, mainly to impress a girl I was dating @ the time..She also liked Star Trek & DS9 as well (both of which I'm not a big fan of), but I had to draw a line & dump her when she said she hated Star Wars..

The Shadow War was expertly plotted and crafted. The slow-building menace was electrifying.
The FX were both ground breaking and award winning, I have never seen anything like a White Star or Shadow Battlecrab before or since.
The line was superb in context, spitting defiance at the gods. Oh, and it was "our" galaxy which is an important distinction.
I could go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and I'd still be right.
And so it begins!
With Baron here its is ace!

any list of 'great SF shows' that doesn't have Doctor Who in the top three is automatically wrong.
and no, i don't particularly find CC that sexy. although she was more attractive than Tracy Scoggins. and is WAY more attractive than Claudia Black off Frascape/Stargate. eeesh, you could chisel marble with that woman's cheeks!
