By the way, wrenching this back on topic, I did notice something in the film, along the lines of Pike saying to Kirk

'You have qualities that would be useful, qualities that have been missing in Starfleet recently' (I'm paraphrasing as I can't remember exactly what was said)

But I did think this was a slight comment about the latter captains. Slightly unfair as I doubt any of them, even Kirk, really stand up to Picard that well, and although the choice of writers in Enterprise was poor, I thought the cast were quite promising, especially Archer.

I was slightly offended by the writers of the film saying Trek was always about Kirk and Spock, and up until recently TNG was my favourite era, but since watching the film and particularly the Blu Ray TOS I find that more watchable. However it's all Trek at the end of the day, and whatever era/ship is your personal preference, when Trek does what it does best, there's not a lot to beat it.

seasons 1 and 2 are the worst. christ they're MORE dated than TOS!

anyone else noticed that theres always one? doesnt matter where you are, you always end up putting up with one.
baron, just got ds9, will let ya know what i think when im a few in! still dont think it can possibly beat tos or enterprise, just my opinion i dont need an argument with "anybody"

Can I argue with you about it? The advantage you might have is that I know nothing about it...

thats cool, youre not "anybody" mate! (i mean that in a nice way!)

bear in mind, DS9 really started cooking in season 3, but you have to see "Duet". it's simply one of THE best episodes ever made of ANY show EVER.

ok.......... will make my mind up when im about half way through. personally i dont see how any star trek episode can be the best episode of any show ever........... that titled can never be held by an american tv show!
