To deviate from the topic briefly.. I remember waiting to save up for the Exterminator... found a shop with it relatively cheap in the summer of 84... surreptitiously read the bio... then in the summer sale they dropped the price (if I remember correctly) from the usual Sterling 14.99 to 10.99!!!! Fkn Ey!!! I trooped in there with a tenner and used coppers for the 99 (that's just under 5 dimes for our american cousins). And without parental permission. But although I met my mum on the way back (hmm, busted to hell) everything passed by peaceably. Then I bought the Z Attack Cannon in the same sale for a fiver! Heaven only knows the innocent and eternally joyous happiness of a child at such divine(-wind) moments....

:kraken: "The mind of a child etc."

Back on topic, I think we may confuse the nominative effusiveness of Laser to the Baron or others for someone mentioning his real name... although Eisenblut himself refers to Laser not only as a "top physicist" but also as a "vulcanologist" whilst preventing the dreaded hari-kiri on at least one occasion.

PS off topic, never found a gunner for that fkn cannon, although i've referred to its pre-jimbo transportability in extremis before.

I've had a read through of 'Operation Sealion' and 'Assault on Atoll Z' this afternoon, and can find no mention of Red Laser's real name. He does speak to another Japanese member of Baron Ironblood's army by name, so maybe this is were people think that it is Laser's name that is mentioned.

Reading through Operation Bloodhound, while brilliant, is a bit of a commitment, and as I don't like to hurry it, I'll leave this one to someone else, although I don't recall any mention there either.

Yeah, it's not worth rushing through the vintage stories!!

I concede defeat - I reckon his name probably wasn't mentioned after all.

Somewhere, anywhere, I don't care, get me outta here....

Whilst we were all starting to believe the truth may be more prosaic than we hoped.

Re-reading Op Sealion I realised that when he leaves Singapore dressed as a businessman that I may have remembered him as being named there, only he wasn't and, if he had been, it would of course have been an alias...
