The DD comic is freely available in pretty much every comic book store. There were a couple of months where Diamond wouldn't distribute it directly - which i think was due to DD owning American rights to the propery, not worldwide rights - but this hickup was sorted after a few months (when you could still pick up the book if you tried hard enough anyway).
The rumour grows:

There's a 2-page ad in the back of issue 39 (out today, 1/26/05) that says, "This Spring...GI JOE as you know it will end"
There's a painted image of shadowy figures against red.
Towards the bottom there's a shattered GI JOE logo and the title, "Rise of the Shadows" - May 2005.

I am really happy that the Devil's Due guys have a desire to bring in concepts from the "foreign market" (foreign to the U.S., that is). They have introduced several characters from the Brazilian and Argentinian toy run... so, I am fairly confident that the "Red Shadow threat" is, indeed, the Shads we all know and love...
The current "Joe" artist posted on the Company's website that he loved the Roboskull

and Skeletron(s)

... Too cool!

In today's interview with Joe artist Tim Seeley:
The Red Shadows will be making their presence known very shortly in "G.I. Joe." "Yup, the Shadows are definitely coming up soon. We spent a lot of time developing these guys. I think it'll show."

We need the 50,000 or so fans who left to come check out the book again. We need the casual fans, or heck, even people who've NEVER read Joe before to feel like this is something they HAVE to check out. The perfect time to come back home.
Guess it's up to us then, lads.
