I'm gutted for you Eddie. I once broke a 1984 Roadblock whilst trying to change his O ring. It's not in the same league, I know, but it is a horrible feeling.

Please tell me that the boxes were not in mint condition, they were pretty tatty to begin with weren't they?....weren't they?

I've got an idea, if you can open out all the flaps and lay the boxes out flat, you may be able to dry them without curling. If you lay bin liners inside and on top, you may be able to weigh them down without anything sticking to the print.

thanks shaun. They were not mint that would be the wrong word to use but in very good condition i'm sad to say.

I would recommend drying like the Baron says: try laying them out flat, put some sort of cloth on the non-printed side to discharge the water (bin liners on both side will trap the water, thus making evaporation impossible, try putting a little pressure on it to prevent curling (eg. multiplex with a weight?). That way you will press out the water and make the structure of the cardboard compact again.

However, you boxes will surely never be like they once were.

Finally, never ever put cardboard items in non-heated/humid rooms! Cardboard will soak up water from humid air. This can result in fungus and other nasty things inside the cardboard.

Same goes for IKEA furniture, but makes sense, because they are made from laminated cardboard.

the whale, persuader, fang, claw, road toad, storm eagle and i'm really sad to say a triad fighter.

some good news some bad, most boxes are ok and will be hardly noticeable as damaged, but the storm eagle box and the whale box are f*cked well and truely. I'm weeping inside.

I broke several Star Wars and Joes by accidentally kneeling on them it hurt too

sorry to hear this mate but at least they're not all wrecked.

i moved house about 5 years ago and when i saw the amount of room all the boxes took up decided to rip everything out and throw away the boxes..........felt good at the time
