I was bidding on the Red Shadow too. I'm sure he is a German one. I'd say the ultimate Buyer was too to go that high for him (bearing in mind I got a German Shad as part of that batch of nine Shadows for £47!). I know what you mean with playwear on the helmet, but the usual way I tell is the chest detail - it is not highlighted in white on the "pocket" of the German Shad. So if a Shad has no helmet logo, doesn't look hammered, and has no white "medal" on his chest, it's usually a safe bet its a German one.
I'm at a loss with the Diver - looks too good a condition to be playwear, as it is purely the Q missing isnt it - paint is still on nose etc.
To be honest, I think these are very late prototypes, or factory seconds. The Red Wolf was a weird one - one red boot, one black, and no painting. Just looked like nobody had bothered finishing him! Interesting figures though Neal - and as I say - interested to see some close ups of him once you get him.
Is the Seller based anywhere near Leicester?

Red Wolf and Q Force diver appear to me as friday afternoon unfinished production models: the bell rings, workers drop their work, skive off and head for the pub for a pint. The Red Shadow does not appear to have playwear. Two options: Gerry-variant or an unfinished production model.
Different discussion is that I really don't understand why you would pay so much money for such crappy figures.

Not sure about your theory Jaye, as the Q Force fig has both red and blue paint on the yellow torso. I doubt the logos were printed seperately, unless they were all done by hand?
But I agree with you on the different discussion, I had to have my Red Wolf as I can pretend he is a Space Force variant, but I wouldn't be slightly interested if he had one yellow leg with blue and green stripy arms

i completed my vintage star wars collection so got in to variants and factory errors
i am now at the same point with actionforce so am going the same way
its also something different to just having bog standard mint figures as i dont make customs myself
i get the legend know as andy1972 to make them for me,there isnt many who can match his expertise!

I was going to paint him up nicely, paint a logo on his chest, and make him all lovely, like he never got the chance to be originally!
Or I just liked him cos he was quirky!
