Dang, I'd have asked for individual shots had I known. Mind if I use some of these for the archives?

Hi Baron..

Feel free to use any you like..I've started to take photo's of my Wave 1 figures today..hopefully :sas: :zforce: :qforce: :space: as well.

This "holiday project" really started due to lack of space, most of my stuff is stored in the loft..& I wanted to start a sort of "virtual" toy museum, so that I could see my collection any time I want..Transformers & Go-bots next hopefully not so many of them so it wont take so long to set up ,I think I've got Photo's of my Centurions on my myspace page?http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=5 ... =532588277

Excellent photos Thundershot - love the way you've taken them. Makes my "half knackered camera point and click" efforts look very half assed!

What's the story behind that Raptor character? He's like a Hawkman out of Flash Gordon!

Hi Steve,

"GORDONS ALIVE?" :-D

If I remember correctly..Raptor was like a dodgy accuontant/Crimson gaurdsman who trained birds of prey to attack people, I think in the u.s. comic, Larry Hamma explained his strange attire down to not wanting to scare his birds..you know like when you people hand-rearing rare bird chicks, by using a bird shape glove puppet to hand feed 'em, they don't get accustumed to humans?

Fred VII the imposter Cobra Commander worked with Raptor, who was indeed a dodgy accountant. He wore the suit, as Tshot says, to make his baby hawks accept him. He was only loosely affiliated with Cobra, mostly doing Fred VII's accounts before Fred VII shot the real CC and stole the battle armour.

That why I liked Larry Hamma's stories..he could take some of the dafter looking characters..like Raptor, & still make them believable, even when all that space malarkey was going on in the later stories, he had scenes like Stalker & Rock 'N Roll
visiting the Arlington Cemetery to remember old fallen comrades.

the only space malarky i know is 'Launch Base' with the shuttle Defiant and then the brief use of the Stiletto space-plane in the lead up to the Cobra Civil War

I think its issue 145..the star brigade turn up about half way in, & by the next issue is all "sci-fi" with russian robot's aiming a meteor & the earth,& the Joes & October Gaurd joining up in space to stop 'em..must of been around the time of Glastnost.

by which time Transformers were no longer printing GI Joe and the only US issue I've read post CCW was the anniversary special in #150 (IIRC) starring Joe Colton in Vietnam
