Are they fondly remembered? Is there a He-Man forum where codpieces and loin cloths are eagerly swapped? Transformers certainly were a bit hit Stateside, presumably nostalgic movie ok cos the lead tottie is fkn :P

Maybe it was a northern thing but He-Man Skele-Mupp and Optimus were never really thought of as big sellers, poncing about as they were "I am the power" and all that crap.

I always thought it was a case of best of British, not some inferior antipodeian sloth who was always home in time for tea after putting out to sea in the morning. Who the fk else would go into action dressed as a Muton due to MoD cutbacks :levi: ? Ozzies? Mate, we're so tough the crocs and sharks would have nothing to bite onto.

Presumably that is why we love you Eisenblut.

Meantime to return to the original question, as Bart Simpson said "The American War of Independence, World War 2, and the Star Wars trilogy".

Personally I disagree about the War of Independence. Other suggestions might include

1. Alexander's campaign against Darius and any sheep-farmer against Sodom and Gomorrah in general
1A. The Passover
2. The Barbarian invasions
3. England against the Danes (866-927)
4. Karolus Magnus against the Saxons, Avars, Lombards and his internal enemies (772-814)
5. UK against Napoleon and his US proxies
6. Netherlands against Spain
6A. Francis Drake against Spain
7. World War 2
Explanation here:

8. Operation Storm
9. :AFLogo: gegen Ming the Merciless aka Eisenblut :baron:
10. Gulf War One
10A. 3 year overdue intervention in Bosnia aka Op Deliberate Force
11. Afghanistan Oct 2001 - Mar 2002 (*actually, taking counsel on that, Sheberghan aftermath etc.)
12. Falklands War
13. Star Wars 4-6
14. Viet Minh against French colonialism

The rest suck.

- I 'm pretty sure there will be  !!!!
Transformers certainly were a big hit Stateside
they way massive around me as a kid growing up on the Wirral - AF & Action Man where deemed pants by the bulk of the lads I knewt hey all thought starwars and transformers where better  I guess that's born out by how well the transformers comic did...

What the fk happened to MASK then?
- hey I quite liked mask I had that petrol station that was never quite big enough for my AF stuff!

going back to the original post I never saw that WW2 thing - in fact it's only recently I realised the similarity between shads and SS troops

The whole SAS thing for me was from the Iranian embassy seige and the film "who dares wins" (which i was far to young to be allowed to watch at the time - but me aunty was boss with stuff like that!)[/quote]

I think the first wave was very WWII but then that was heavily based upon Action Man whose only enemy up until the very end (Gargon, zargon and the intruder) was WWII Nazis which when you think back is a bit bizzare.

I think after wave 1 it kind of became universal Defenders of the earth (wonder if there is a 'defenders of the earth' forum!) I never really saw nationalites although I guess I thought Z and SAS were British just because of the uniforms.

Yeah :sas: and :zforce: were heavily British. That great bio of Eisenblut in one of the BAF Annuals relied heavily on intimations of causal Nazi devilry (it's over on BFTB.. somewhere).

Meantime, did Ricky Gervais really say that? Or was it David Brent and Gareth reminiscing about their youth? LOL
