THanks guys forgot to add the most important bi of info been in to the bios and it states that the floppy drive ain't there. That's why I'm a bit snookered. Also had done what JAye suggested but to no avail.

Make sure to check the boot order and also make sure that floppy seek isn't on.

Re Norton, I fix these frakers day in and day out. Most common Norton/Printer issue is Norton blocking the print spooler service.

Where would I see that in Bios? The Norton thing was that I had the 2005 edition and the new Lexmark drivers weren't compatible with it?????

Thanks for the help Mark

instead of moving boot sequence, disable the floppy check.

Installing Norton is akin to being impregnated by an aliens parasitic seed, first things seem allright, then you don't feel so good, then it rips out your entire system

Usually the first or second page in the BIOS Paul, depending on your motherboard. It'll say something like Floppy Seek - Enabled or disabled.

I moved to a 64-bit OS a few months back so had to scrap Zone Alarm. I've been using Comodo and have to say I am very impressed. It's a Firewall and Antivirus, or you can have just one or the other. It's been on the ball for Malware and best of all, it auto-updates.

I also run Spybot, Ad-Aware and SpywareBlaster. All of them are free.

TBH all of the firewalls I've ever seen are only as good as the user. More trouble than they are worth in most cases. I use either AVG or Avast, no firewall. Just a router.

I'll concur on the Barons choice of Spyware removers tho. All are better than anything commercially available. Most of my days are spent doing virus removals
