ALIENS
Re: ALIENS
That is a great scene in the tunnel ... I know you dont see what happens to Dallas, but its better left to the imagination ?
It was nice to see Dallas in the cocoon thingy in the deleted scene, I thought that was one scene they should have left in the movie.

Re: ALIENS
Yeah it's a good scene it shows how hard Ripley is becoming too.
What I never get in Aliens is when they just get their arses kicked they get back in the tank and see Apone and I think dietrix are still alive,Ripley pipes up and says you cant save them right now their being cocooned just like the others!! but when annoying Newt gets taken shes like RIGHT!!! I am going to get her!!surely the SGT and other marine could have been saved at that early stage..........or have I got too much time on my hands thinking about that

Re: ALIENS
I've seen ALIEN so many times and know were every single 'scare' is right down to the second, yet scenes like Dallas in the vent (the whole scene too, not just the pant-cacking finalé!) give me palpatations. Better still, the film hasn't aged a single day, in any regard! It could just have easily been made last year rather than 30 years ago.
The deleted cocoon scene is pretty horrible and another example of the hopeless dread the characters are feeling. I reckon it should have been left in too, although Ridley Scott said it broke the sustained tension of the film's final scenes. It also contadictated later "Alien lifecycle" continuity, but who cares?
As for rescuing Newt... I guess it was Ripley's maternal instincts driving her. She went back for Jones the cat too!

I think Ripley grew too attached too soon to newt ? I know her own daughter had died but she seemed to mother Newt pretty quickly !?The Kraken wrote:Yeah it's a good scene it shows how hard Ripley is becoming too.

Re: ALIENS
They did stick it back into the Quadrilogy set I got a few years ago, infact all 4 had directors cuts, the best of these in my opinion being Alien3, whilst not the stongest of them all, the directors cut version is way better and adds so much more. A lot of the footage is grainy, but very cool and a few twists with the alien coming from a cow, not a dog. Worth picking up.Andy1672 wrote:That is a great scene in the tunnel ... Alien Reserection ends with you actually seeing Earth, rather than just hinted.

Re: ALIENS
I bought that boxed set in HMV sale a while back, but so far i have only watched part 3 !
I knew there was a lot of restored footage in that one, thats mostly the reason I bought the set.
I will haveto get around to watching the others soonish !

I don't know if it's the same set as yours, this was a metallic embossed green box set that I bought probably around 2003/ 2004? Unless yours is the deluxe set

If you have it, watch it, like I said, there is ropey footage, but if you watch the intro, they give a lot of background at how troubled the production of the film was and how the original director walked out. What they try and piece together is the version he originally envisioned. Does make it a better and more captivating film.
