That one is a prototype too, the production version of the Crusier has 3 engines in a triangle, whereas that has two engines at the top. As for the snowspeeder, it looks like it's been based around the engine part, but it's not the actual part itself used.
I have come across a similar piece before with the Millennium Falcon radar dish. It was vaccum cast from the piece itself, which is injection moulded. This process produces a lower quality product, not as detailed, so begs the question as to why they would have vac formed such a piece as injection moulding gives a much stronger and beeter quality piece, unless it was used in a mock up, display or to use as base for another piece, like the Cruiser engine.
I'll sort out an image to show. It's worth mentioning this was in amoungst the Boffin - but does not 100% that this was intended for Action Force.
Dave.

Thanks Dave..that ones been driving me mad since I first saw it 20 odd years ago..
Gotta ask,but why use vac form stuff, when persumably, the designer could of taken the required piece from off the production line?
I think that the cardboard Death Star used some bits of the X-wing (the guns & pos' a mode'd cockpit? I've never seen one "in the flesh" )..so maybe the A.F. base could of had a planed comm's dish based on the Falcons..?

Great spot on the Muton visor! I think the Shadowtrak windscreen has a solid logo. I also note the Z Force jeep has no gun.

There's actually a lot of "variants" on that card back - all the Red Shads are Red Vultures (black gloves) the Baron has his Black Gloves on (serial killer gloves - strangley appropriate really! Especially with all of this snow falling) and the Space Force Pilots are all the orange boot variants. So really, coupled with it being Wheels (red packs) rather than just Infantry it seems to me that the pic is all of the rarer variants.
Strange how the Space Force Pilot lost the red stripes off the arms, but the Captain retained them too?

And on all of those catalogue pictures the Muton has a clear visor - the green must've been a last minute change of mind?

A woman in charge of the design team perhaps?

You can see bigger pics of him in the 1983 catalogue:

OMG ! what happened to his head ? looks like he got it stuck in a jam jar ? well spotted !

I have seen a better pic of the Shadowtrak somewhere and I think the Solid logo is actually a sticker.
Zoom in on this pic........
