Jon you may well have hit the nail on the head, if all UK overstock was cleared through outlets such as pound land they would have been sold and most likely opened for sure! Europe doesn't or didn't at the time necessarily have the same way to clear so more likely the toys sat at the back of the toy shops they were sold into, thus stored and only sold when found later in their lives at their collectable point. Maybe.
