The thing that got me was seeing this model fighter plane:...
which was featured in an episode of The Secret Service, & thinking to myself "Well that's just too far fetched!"
Then, as I viewed the rest of the museum, I spotted this:

Fantastic stuff, wish I knew that was on (and still lived locally!). It's a shame Joe 90 was a bag of wank cos the puppets and effects were awesome.

That is truly a lovely exhibition. Some of these series were truly sh*t, even at the time of first broadcast, but the puppets were, still are for that matter, always excellent craftmanship. Thanks for sharing!

Aye, I'm a big admirer of all of these old Century 21 productions yet I'd have to agree that there's many problems especially with the shows that followed Captain Scarlet.
It's the craftsmanship & artistry of all the people involved behind the scenes that still impresses, especially after all these years.. even if you don't like the shows you've got admire creativity of these guys.
Just take this model van for example, it probably just appeared on screen for a few seconds but the pure amount of effort put into it's astounding:
It was only recently re-discovered, the paint work's seen better days & a headlights missing, the owner intends keeping it 'as is' rather than totally restoring it to it's former glory.

Forgotten to mention that many of the superb replica models were made by a guy called David Sisson, here's a link to his website where you can see many photo's, works in progress & read interviews with stars of the special effects industry.
He also owns (& restored) both the original large scale Eagle One (Space 1999) & Over-Lander (Terrahwks) models and is currently in the process of recreating studio accurate models of the Spacehawk & the Hawkwing.
