GI Joe #155 1/2

Post by Sundance »

got my copy today. it's a bit rushed, i think. the story could've done with a few more pages, but it's good old Larry Hama, :cobracommander: 's scheming, :zartan: and :destro: are up to no good behind his back, and :storm: is back in :cobra: thanks to some brainwashing...

art's good too, :baroness: is very slinky looking. i might well get into the ongoing on the strength of this...

8/10

larry was asked in the IDW forum Q&A at thee back about bringing in SKAR and the Shads, but didn't answer cuz he was also asked about the Oktober Guard (who he liked), Serpentor (who he didn't care for) and Cobra-La who he hated.

ya that was cool that someone asked, I was so happy that they did, even though we didnt get the answer. Im 99 percent sure he has no clue as to WHO the RED SHADOWS or SKAR is and that is why he didnt answer, so at least this puts a little seed in his ear kind of thing

thats the only bad thing about Larry Hama, if he needs something to tell his story he will just make up something instead of looking deep into the joe universe for something that could be used for EXACTLY the same thing. He will always give us good stories but dont ever expect little fan nods or usages of obscure characters like DDP did, He isnt a fan of GI JOE really.

Havent read the issue yet, But I totally agree with jamar. I love the DD joe Verse and it seems like everyone else hated it. My current joeverse follows up the DD story with cobra split into factions and well, I have a lot of free time so I have like alot of backstory.

Backstory is what makes things interesting and great to follow..............at least for me.

I didnt start with issue 1 of marvel way back in the 80s I started somewhere around issues 80 and then I went backwards to find out all the cool stories.

the whole Idea of scrapping all of that continuity from DDP just sucks and reeks of laziness .

Id rather have seen what larry would have done with the events after WWIII but as someone said before on these boards, at least that gives RED DAWN and the rest of the books we do here free reign of things LOL

it's not laziness, it's just a different story-telling choice.
