I know it's a distant memory now, but when i started out collecting I had similar in mind - just a core collection for display in my study. I wanted one of each figure (so basically I would have been buying the ones missing from my childhood collection), that I was going to put in a wall mounted display cabinet in the study. I guess things just got out of hand!

I'm guessing Chopper is drooling on his keyboard right about now! ;-)
I'm more of an analogue bloke, Steve. ;-) But that's still looking good. As fer cables, LJ, my study is worth a small fortune in copper, so I know what you mean. I am very close to finished cleaning up and rearranging mine and will post pics when I finish, hopefully next week. Just got a nice new 5 guitar rack ;-)

And collections. 1 of everything is my goal, down to 8 left now, then on to a serious effort in vehicles. My shelves doth overflow tho. When Steelers tank and the Panther arrives I will be completely buggered. But happy about it ;-)

Some before pics would be nice for sure, LJ.

We all got jobs and girlfriends, so during the weekends it got more and more 'challenging' to spin. After a few years we decided to sell the entire lot. My mates have become responsible fathers, I still intend to become that whacky old music geezer! ;)

Some pics I could find quickly:

Impression how the room was before / all sorts of collections cluttered (sorry, can't find a wide-angle overview):

This is how the attics looked (never mind the missus, she had flu at that time and had to sleep there):

This is just one I ran into by accident whilst looking, me having a discussion how a plan comes together:

Did I see a Jokey Smurf there? WHY DO YOU HAVE JOKEY SMURF AND I DON'T?

Everyone should have a Jokey Smurf. I have about 40 Smurfs from my travelling days as a lad, from BP servo's. My Granddad would buy me one from a servo on the coast when we'd go to his batch. Servo has gone now unfortunately, but the memory of hitting the Pacific surf in the 1970's summers, and those Smurfs, is permanently entrenched. Ahhhh, my happy place ;-) Cheers for that guys.

I checked the story with the missus. It was me having a high fever and she chose to sleep in the attic to prevent getting sick herself. She kindly 'asked' me to remove her picture: "It's OK you collect, but leave me out of it!" :.

The smurfs is 100% pure nostalgia for me. Same type of story as Chopper: me and my dad going to the BP petrol station and I could pick out a smurf. Memories indeed. I'd say somewhere 1975-1977. I have a few smufs, but I am not familiar with all the English names. Who's Jokey Smurf? The one holding the present?

Yup, Jokey Smurf is the one with the present. Once I bought a Smurf just because he had a present, but then I noticed he had flowers too, thus being just an enamored smurf :-(
The good thing is that there are at least three versions of the character to seek (the clown smurf is also him, though I'll seek him in more "normal" versions), while others, like Clumsy Smurf, have only one.
