If they're going to revive anything then rather than turning old series into movies, I wish it could be the watch-with-dad-maybe, non-pretentious Saturday teatime action series.

Or the midweek 9 o'clock slightly grittier, can-stay-up-to-watch-if-your-good series.

I thought that the Dukes and Starsky & Hutch remakes were fun but it's that kind of series itself I'm missing. Shown at the right time of day too.

Our schedules here are a mess - we get Family Guy mid afternoon and movies for the kindergarten kids starting 8:30pm on a Sunday night.

Now that His Nibs is no doubt sufficiently riled about straying off-topic I suppose I should say that I hope the new movie is a good 'un, with lots of friction between BA and Murdoch, lots of daft plans, lots of shoot outs, but not too much orchestra music or 'high drama'. And especially keeping the CGI at an unobtrusive minimum.

i liked the Miami Vice movie, but i never watched the show...

haven't seen Dukes and i thought Starsky and Hutch was pretty crap. it was too silly.

surprised no one mentioned the Charlie's Angels flicks. i enjoyed them as light-weight fluff with two tasty birds in. (sorry lucy liu you do nothing for me)

The casting I find excellent. Liam Neeson is the right guy playing Hannibal. However, when seeing the tank falling from the plane I expect this to become a thirteen in a dozen type of action movie.

Couldn't agree more!

When is Action Force the movie coming out? ;)

Dukes film was ok but starsky & hutch wasn't that good and to me had nothing to do with the series just like the sh*t that was charlie's angels. I didn't like the idea of the Miami Vice film even though Michael Mann had done it I thought he would have been more faithful to the original series.
Spock, where the hell's the power you promised?

Did anyone see the Dukes of Hazzard "The Beginning" Film??? Seriously - I'm the biggest Dukes fan going, and I had to turn it off. It sucks. I mean, seriously. I didn't mind the Jessica Simpson remake - I mean, not a patch on the original, but it was at least a lighthearted film - lost a bit of the family innocence the Dukes always had for me, but it was okay. But "The Beginning". Sucked.

I liked the Dukes of Hazzard remake, reminds me of going to see the (soon to be ex) inlaws in Mississippi... nothing beats shooting empty beer cans out of the back of a pickup truck - i kid you not!

All the rest were shite though. Loved Miami Vice original, but massively, unbelievably, disappointed with the remake.

A Team looks great though. Don't care how far fetched it looks!

Hollywood remakes are a disease. That said, there are one or two remakes better than the original versions, in my opinion. I shall open myself up for some flak and say that the Dawn of the Dead remake is far, FAR, superior to the original. More grim, realistic and relentlessly nerve shredding, compared to low budget, 70s crap. Outrage and sacrilage!

Actually, worth it for the opening sequence and Johnny Cash song sequence alone. Superb. If (when) the Zombie Apocalypse comes, that is how it's gonna go down!

 :-?

Looks good, the scene with tank is the sort of thing I'd liked to have seen in the Joe movie, far fetched but more believable than accelerator suites.

Any word on action figures yet?

It would make a great G.I.Joe spin off line...

Oh now that's a very good point! We could be looking at a whole new 3 3/4" military based toy line here!!! I'm getting into the idea now!

Even if Hasbro don't have the licence, it would make perfect sense to make 'em 3.3/4" just as Galoob did back in the 80's, a van would be nice too.
