Red Shadow heads for customs

Post by SteveD »

I'm working on moulds to produce my first few batches of Red Shadow heads for Customs.

If I have any success (looking quite good so far, and about ready for my first few batches I think) I am proposing to offer them up for sale at, basically, cost to me (costs for materials etc that it costs me, so it will be basically non profit for me - in case anyone from Hasbro is listening!). It's looking like they would be about £1.50 each or a bag of 10 for £12. (For comparison Broken Arrow charge $3 each, and are pretty hit and miss when they have them in stock). I'll be making them to order and would endeavour to have any orders to you within a week.

I was just wondering (to give me a clue when it comes to casting them) if people would be interested, and if so, in which versions?

So far I have a mould of a Dufus version (quite skinny of face), original, non dufus Shad (for a Palitoy body), 25th version (head with a hole in to fit onto a 25th body). I am also looking at tooling one for the more articulated series 3/Joe figures.

The heads will be cast in red, and smoothed to a finish by me, but will obviously need painting. At this stage I am interested to see what sort of variations people would prefer, so that if I start with multiple moulds I can have this in mind?

I'm hoping to cast my first few prototypes in the next few days, so will stick some pics up of the results once I have.

Any thoughts or feedback (or requests) much appreciated!

Mate you've saved me the hassle of trying to do my own. I would be pleased to purchase some off you when you are ready.

I'd be interested Steve.

I bought 8 from Broken Arrow a few months back and glued them onto some headless Shads I had left from my customs [and 4 very kindly donated from TKW]

They look great and have saved some Shads from the bin.

I haven't got a pic to hand of them finished up, but here they are pre-painting.

I just had a plain black triangle on the head and they look fine, just like my Germans.

Anyway, yes, repro heads would be very useful.

Thanks for the offer Matt!

I have some, though, from the transfers that you sent me a few months back.

I haven't added them as I assumed they wouldn't fit correctly over the figure's curved helmet front.

Is that NOT the case?
