How about a 'Custom Of The Month' competion?
Re: How about a 'Custom Of The Month' competion?
ok, you can vote twice, but has to be one vehicle & one figure! vehicles should be presented empty, or with original figures so they dont gain votes by having custom figs with them, if you also have a custom driver for your vehicle then enter it separately as your custom figure!
ok, so how are these for rules?
one vehicle & one figure allowed per member (you dont have to enter both)
if you want to submit vehicle pics with drivers/crew, no customs figs!
you cant vote for yourself!
voting will run from 25th - 31st, results on 1st august.
no comments about customs until after votes are in, the thread should be just for posting customs.
i think customs should be more than just repaints, even if you havent changed that much (anyone can change a few body parts or add something, it's not too hard!) some people are awesome @ painting, so it's not fair on others if you can just repaint a fig & make it look sweet!
this all sound ok?

I have a thing for my customs to be 100% originals... If a set is incomplete I won't touch it until I've found the missing bits. I guess the majority of my customs are just repaints.
Not sure if there's any way of setting the polls to prevent people from voting for themselves either..

Do you think members on here would do that? I have added this site's name to all my Joe site signatures just going off-topic hopefully it may help generate more members for bftb in our communityThe Baron wrote:I have a thing for my customs to be 100% originals... I do now have a spare Crimson Guard twin I could work on if I could get new arms and know how to get the old ones offRoss SC wrote:i dont mean from scratch, but i mean @least change the arms, or head, something like that!Ironblood wrote:I couldn't enter then I haven't built anything from scratch as a custom

Re: How about a 'Custom Of The Month' competion?
just realised, there does need to be a theme............. AF or G.I. Joe related!
doesnt mean it has to made from af or joe figs/vehicles, but the end result needs to be, or the other way round, something else but made from af or joe!
(you wanna turn a marvel or dc fig into something af, fine! but it has to have a believable story behind it or an existing character!)

I can't agree on some of these points.
1 - I think no repaints is a stupid rule.
I have loads of repaints that look totally great. They are still very much 'customs'.
A repaint is absolutely fine in my opinion.
Palitoy's number one rule was 'repaint, repaint & repaint'. Ground Assault & Arctic Assault. British Marine & 2-Para....
2 - We don't need any 'theme'. The theme is that its a monthly custom. That's theme enough.
3 - Action Force vs GI Joes?
This is an ACTION FORCE website, not a GI Joe one.
And its also a PALITOY site.
I think the customs should represent that.
Even if people are using figures/parts from later figures/other figure ranges, it should represent PALITOY ACTION FORCE. Be it series 1, 2 or 3, it doesn't matter...
4 - The polls system work on people making one vote each, so it should simply be one entry - be it a figure, vehicle, whatever.
People put forward one item each month. It keeps it simple.
5 - PALITOY ACTION FORCE toys frequently came as vehicle and driver sets, so if someone has made a custom vehicle with driver, that should be presented together as their one entry. There is no harm is having them together. It just shows off how good they compliment each other. So driver [custom or regular] should be fine.

I like this idea, but have to agree with Paul.
Keep it simple , its only a bit of fun in the end.

Re: How about a 'Custom Of The Month' competion?
I love the idea, but agree with Paul - keep it simple? Why not just post every custom someone wants to enter, not even limited to one. And then they get voted on? If folks don't like repaints then just don't vote! I say let people enter as many as they like, then it's up to them if they hold any back for next month or put them all in that months?
