Z Force Captain a.k.a. Skip

Post by Lady Jaye »

This question has been bugging me for a while now. What is the right rifle for Skip? My childhood Skip came with a black version of the German Stormtrooper rifle, but then I ran into this Skip with a black Royal Marine rifle. What is the original, what is the variant?

Mine came with the rather anachronistic bolt action rifle. I dumped it right away and gave him a Joe 25th M-16 instead. It looks pretty good on him, but I'd prefer the FN.

Looking at the card backs it was the SLR that he came with. I think the German rifle was a mis pick. There was a MOC Skip with the German rifle a few months back on ebay it went for a tenner.
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

The german rifle was blue and this one is black .... no other figure came with this weapon, except for the german stormtrooper.

so.... if skip came originally with the machine gun ... where does that leave this black variant ??

As a kid, I bought one with a shooting rifle (gun on the left) and of course he can't really hold it. But that's the one I had.

Mine came with the SLR, which seems right to me. Every catalogue I've seen, its been an SLR. More variants? Mine may have even been a BAF freebie.

Thanks guys. Reading your replies it appears both rifles are just as common.

I always thought the stormtrooper rifle was the common one, since I seem to run into these the most often. Perhaps this rifle was put inside a batch of figures with destination Europe mainland?

Skips weapon should be the black SLR rifle, the German Stormtrooper type rifles called a Kar 98K, weapon of choice of Stormtroopers in WW2 predominantly......I expect Palitoy simply packed some with either type. As a kiddie I only ever saw the SLR type guns. I own the other type of gun and its just like the ones in the pic, black and did wonder if it came with one of the accessory packs or something else....now I know!
