palitoy shipping boxes
Re: palitoy shipping boxes
Is there any other reference to them being the Heavy Brigade?
Does this have a bearing on why they are Z Force? A word beginning with or containing a 'Z' that means heavy or big or strong perhaps?
The other force make sense, Z Force however...

Actually, a thought occurs...
The A Team premiered in the US in January of 1983, perhaps the name Z Force was a reaction to this? Struggling to come up with a name for the infantry force, they saw A Team popularity and went with Z?
Completely off topic. And yes, I have way too much time on my hands!

General consensus is its homage (yes Jim, I know its disgusting) to the WWII Z Force. Q ZForce is homage to Q ships, SAS is a gimme, as is Space Force.
Let me tell you, Gunner La-De-Dah Graham, the British Army can fight anything! Intimate or not!

Ahh, ok.Chopper wrote:General consensus is its homage (yes Jim, I know its disgusting) to the WWII Z Force. Q ZForce is homage to Q ships, SAS is a gimme, as is Space Force.
Hmmmm.
See, I always thought that Q Force was from "aQua" Force, but I suppose Q Ships would make sense... if a little obscure.
Also, a decoy ship whose aim is to get sunk so that others could attack? That's not very inspiring, and doesn't sound like the Q Force commandered by Leviathan or Dolphin (never knew who) that we know and love.
Not sure about that...

One of the Palitoy design team was Ex RN, so we figured his connection with that brought in the Q Ships for Q Force.
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

Yeah, ok. Makes a bit more sense.paul463 wrote:One of the Palitoy design team was Ex RN, so we figured his connection with that brought in the Q Ships for Q Force.
I still think the link between 'Aqua' and 'Q' is a bit more obvious, at least to my fevered mind. That's why I was asking about Z Force and Z words.
But yeah, I can the see the link now.

I'm pretty sure there is a mention of a Z Force Heavy Brigade on the fanclub cassette tape.
