No doubt you've all noticed the forum has been offline for the past four weeks, I'm sorry to have to announce that we have taken a major hit. In a nutshell, a third of the forum data is gone forever. I and others have tried everything to retrieve it, but it simply cannot be done. It appears that the 30-second timeout that plagued the board a few years back has also affected my meticulous backups; every single one dating back to 2008 is incomplete.
Every forum has been hit, the wost incidents are the post counts. No doubt you have all lost posts, my own personal count has dropped from over 25,000 to under 12,000 and many of those were site info, navigation, FAQs and projects - it will take me a while to rebuild them. All members of the BFTB Elite will remain members, regardless of the current counts, but unfortunately there is no way of knowing who was nearly at the 1000 mark. I'm sorry about that, if you can remember your rank or post count, please drop me a PM. Abject apologies go out to meertoh who's account has been completely lost, our longest-standing active member.
The feedback thread is decimated. I have no idea if the threads tally with the counts, we'll just have to pick up where it leaves off. The last three Custom of the Month winners are also currently unknown, but I believe that two of them were my own - the SAS Phantom and Q Force Battle Platform, if anyone remembers please shout. The Colouring Project instalments and discussions are similarly lost. The archives still stand though, anyone who was waiting for the last chapter of Desert Strike can view it in the main Comics archive. The 30th and 9th anniversary forums are lost as are the Joecon 2011 and 2012 discussions.
My deepest regrets are the lost submissions by Dave Tree and Jamar Miller to the Roll Out Roll Call 3, Rising Sun Comics and Action Man forums. I'm so sorry, guys, I know how much work was in there and it breaks my heart to have let you down - I've tried everything to salvage them and it just cannot be done.
The good news is that every submission to the Customs forum was backed up to my hard drive. Did anyone managed to save the images for the Action Force stationery, please? I can't remember who posted them - sorry.
Some of the forum counts are reading strange, saying 'No new posts' when there are posts within, I hope that will sort itself out once the discussions resume. I think the only thing we can do is get back into it and carry on.
Sorry, everyone.
A very glum
