Action Force Ownership
Re: Action Force Ownership
not given this much thought but a quick google for 'low volume injection moulding' yields a few firms that do rapid prototyping.
I'm pretty sure if we could produce a cad solid model of some figure components a firm could produce some tooling and produce moulded components
the finishing and assembly might be more difficult to sort out. but a kit form series of action force figures might be an idea - something you'd assembly like the warhammer stuff...

Barto,
that sounds like a great idea! If one of us could just get six numbers up in the lottery........

When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?
Re: Action Force Ownership
it might not be that mad an idea.. well not millionaire winner mad... rapid prototyping isn't the same as full on mass production this article is a reasonable introduction:

Re: Action Force Ownership
Not sure anyone owns it .. GI Joe seems to rule the roost..(we didn't have that in Blighty so i'm gonna produce a few indie comics for fun (and to hone my skills) starring on the original characters with there original IPC origin and background as opposed to Marvel origin(which is great too..but only up to a point but I prefer what Battle did with the characters more gritty and tough )

Re: Action Force Ownership
if there was ONE Person I trusted to do a small run/ new sculpt toy it would be alyshos ( sp)
he does something at the con every year and the things he does is amazing
Id say if we had a group of people that was interested we could contact him
also someone did a figure on a small run from one of the online stores I think it was guru-planet or something
it was for the ANIKA ( SP) figure pretty dam good. talk to them

Obviously it would be easier to get them to make the toys for us, I still think submitting colour designs for the existing moulds is a good idea.
Cheers, mate!
By the way... LOTS of good ideas here!

I think this would be better if we asked in private , asking it in the Q and A and making it public may anger them
submitting color designs to them may be bad because at the conventions people try this all the time and they always say sorry we cant look at it.
now with that said they do look at the customs at the shows but in a *ahem*-non official capacity * ahem*
One way we could go about it is contacting Transforce or the other UK transformers convention and see if they have any contacts through their conventions and see about doing some convention exclusive repaints

The Great
Get-Together of 2008/9 perhaps, eh?
I popped home at lunchtime and dug through some Toyfare magazines for you lot, such is my dedication (ha ha!). I've got some info that might help customizers. Is that how you spell that? Anyway, I'll try to post it after work so I don't get busted for being on the computer too long right now...!

Re: Action Force Ownership
Okay!
Of possible interest are two issues of the American magazine "Toyfare".
Issue 130 from June this year features an article on pages 10 and 11 in which Morgan Phillips explains how to make your own 3 and 3/4 inch action figures from existing molds and interchangeable parts, using two-part silicone. Also shown is how to make a cool blister pack for the finished product.
Issue 131 from July has a follow-on feature, also pages 10 and 11, in which Vince Callaghan explains how to sculpt small accessories, (in this case, a space-helmet for Spider-Man!), using castilene sculpting wax.
Okay, I know these chaps have had a lot of practise... but the results are impressive!
If I may, however, I'd like to raise something I mentioned elsewhere on the boards because it'd be a shame if someone used the Knowledge of Prometheus to swindle his or her fellow

Go on, Custom Crew! Go Get 'em!Space Commander wrote:Okay, its a million-to-one fantasy daydream that they'd ever be remade..., but if they were... would you find new ones more acceptable if they had some kind of 21st Century identifying-mark actually molded onto each new figure? Perhaps on the character's back? That way you could tell who was selling genuine originals at the car-boot sale, and who'd just opened some new ones to sell as old, ha ha!
Yeah, I know. Not gonna happen. But still....
It reminds me of the Tron action figures that came out when I was just a kid. They were very rare around here, but I managaed to get one. For years, I was the proud owner of a rare action figure... until the 20th anniversary of Tron came around and they reissued the figures identical to the originals! Rare no more.
So yes, if they DID reissue Palitoy's Action Force figures, (yeah I know, its just a distant daydream), they'd have to have some kind of identifying mark to make them different from the originals, in my opinion.
