Jammer needs Help!!

Post by scoobydie »

Does anyone have any techniques for removing paint from figures?
Jammer needs some assistance, I would think turps would take the original layers off too.

Any help would be much appreciated!!

Quite a common problem on figures this, I remember Baron having a Red Jackal
painted to look like a Destro!
What were people thinking!!

you have to be careful with turps, ive used it pretty successfully to remove layers of paint and primer from custom vehicles, then i left one in to soak a little too long and my tank looked liked it had driven into a very very thick wall very very fast....

You can try rubbing alcohol, it's less destructive than turpentine. I've used it, but you still
need to just try and concentrate on the area that you want it on and once done wash it off
with lightly soaped warm water.
Also if you have a dental pick or similar tool sometimes it's easier to pick/pop the paint off,
if your carefull.
Good luck.

Yeah, here's the Red Destro thread.

I used the tip of a craft knife and scratched very carefully, but I still managed to remove some original paint. It may be safer to repaint the original colours over the top.
