Welcome to the forum!

Is that Action Man scale? Porkins did one, maybe he can help you out?

I'm currently working on a possibilty of a removable helmet

the comic & toy versions could never fit a proper scale head inside, I was wondering how anyone else managed it

You're using a very similar style to how I'm working (I've also got one tucked at the back of the "projects" box.

I'm working on the idea of building up the back of the helmet to be the breathing gear (or whatever it is), and that will be removeable (so will lift off with the helmet), but will come quite far down the back of the head, to cover the join at the back, where the clam head/face visor bit will fit around.

That part (the face mask) is to be made of a fine mesh base, with the clam face part built up with car body filler (glass fibre, so it has structure to it, but some flex still) that is to ulitmately be sanded to a finish then painted. That's what I'm working towards anyway, but it's a very long term project, and has had to be put away at the moment, until the winter!

Not sure if that's helped or hindered really!!

As for the Barons (cough cough) helmet, I'm using similar idea - rolled mesh, with an eye slit built in, that I'm then filling with fibre glass filler and working to a smooth finish with grooves cut in. That should then fit over an Action Man head, as I want to keep the idea of Action Man figure with totally removeable outfits.

I think if I was to do this I would use some sort of cloth mask for the lower part so it doenst have to look so bulky. the cloth could fit the face stretch a bit so would have to be so big as to make it removeable.

not to authentic perhaps but may look better.

Hi Claymore another convert from UAMHQ! Good to have another jock on the site too ;)
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

G'day Claymore, as Paul said, nice to see you here. Its much the same atmosphere as AMHQ, just a bit more laid back.

Good luck with the Shad.

Have you thought about using the head from the 12" Cobra Commander that was released before the movie line came out? May have to trim the back and top of the head to fit the vintage helmet, but the face mask would work pretty good.

For the Baron's face mask, you might want to look at the Adventure Team High Voltage Escape mask. It is pretty close and would work for him.
