In 1988, Marvel Comics released, in America, G.I. Joe A Real American Hero (ARAH) European Missions comic series not written by Larry Hama which included stories by Simon Furman. It was a near direct reprint of the Action Force Monthly series that was published by Marvel Comics UK, also 1988. The European Missions series was the first time that the Action Force versions of G.I. Joe characters appeared in American comic books.
