Novelty elements continued with the sub-set Mega Marines, which featured figures with 'mouldable bio-armour', i.e a tub of Play-Doh (Hasbro had taken ownership of the Play-Doh brand in 1991) which was pressed into a hinged plastic mould and closed around the figures' chests. The tips of the launcher projectiles were also designed to be coated if desired.
