This was in fp Newcastle today, earlier than planned.

It's the best issue so far with great art and there's the suggestion of more serious violence (albeit in the background/ suggested) to cater for kids as well as older fans.

The story arc was planned in issue 1 so we knew it was Colombia. Looks like they are 2 parters. Hopefully it'll last beyond issue 6, but they need Cobra to have a better prominence soon. Pursuit of Cobra is going to have main characters so I can't see why the comic can't

Yeah, and the videogame (which also is a possible sequel for the movie) also used Cobra (with :baroness: , :destro: , :firefly: and :storm: as both bosses and hidden playable charas), so why the comic can't? If they don't want to set :cobracommander: free due to not messing the sequel, they can make the toy-only charas ( :firefly: , :scrapiron: , :copper: , etc) appear as leaders of hidden :cobra: cells Rex created before his imprisonment.

yeah, but then there's the possibility of stepping on the toes of the sequel by using characters the second film introduces; which kids (if they're half as smart as me) are going to notice and go 'huh? but he appeared in issue #23 of the comic!' or something.

hence why my pitch for writing for the comic was to use AF and Shad characters. completely avoids the problem.

it's like in the ROTF comic, Skids and Mudflap were introduced in a story set between 1 and 2 and copied a Chevy Beat and a Chevy Trax to gain their alt-modes; completely contradicting the film's use of the pink ice-cream truck combined alt-mode and them gaining the car modes after.

I think it's a rather snazzy helicopter thingy (very accurate, I know) and some football (sorry Jeff - UK to US translation - "Soccer" [or "the David Beckham Game"]) stickers in a vain attempt to get kids hooked on collecting the stickers.

Like a drug dealer giving out some free "samples" of Crystal Meth they are, I tell ya....

issue FIVE's free gifts are the Champions League soccerball stickers and the rip cord helicopter. issue SIX has a 'rocket blaster' as the gift. FIVE's cover is in the cover gallery thread in this very sub-forum. SIX's cover has Duke and Snakes on the front...
