the Joes have 2 flamethrower specialists: Blowtorch and Charbroil. You're right about me switching the names! D'oh!!! I meant Blowtorch, of course. But, believe it or not, G.I. Joe had 2 more flame-thrower specialists: Ice Cream Soldier and Blast-Off, who was one of the 4 "Mega-Marines" members... i forgot ICS because he's got such a stupid-ass codename, i tend to forget he exists. i'm trying to blot him out like that abomination that they aired at the end of Enterprise S4... didn't realise Blast Off was a flamer trooper. it's easy to get confused with Barbecue because Marvel UK treated him as a flame specialist more than a fire-fighter. it wasn't really until the Sgt. Slaughter story was reprinted in Transformers that i realised he was a firefighter when he's laying foam down at the door ways...

Blast-Off kind'a makes sense with that group. He'd probably be responsible for destroying all the "Mega-Monster" specimens...

After looking at Sean's artwork Red Torch reminded me of the Nort Space Marines in the post-modern post-Cam Kennedy Rogue Trooper, drawn by ?Steve Dillon c. 87-88, even a bit of the Imperial Space Marine tomfoolery of Games Workshop back in the day. On the other hand, maybe I'm confusing the two. But he also is reminiscent a bit of types like , for obvious reasons, and thus any android or cyborg pretensions can surely only be deserving of a BBC Micro CPU.* Or maybe some will assume the Torch is just v.2.1 rebooted and flameproof suited. *Tho it would be nice to see Torch kick off with

I agree it would make more sense to have them as heavy waepons specialists.
For fun here is another Red Torch Image from the issue I am working on

Today I received a bagged Joecon set. The first thing I did was put a Red Shadow head on a Red Torch figure. The head fits a lot better on the Red Torch and doesn't suffer as much from the long neck look. Click for larger image
