I totally agree with you , this site and everything you have done only advertises and it only helps hasbro expecially in international markets , I just hope they look at it like that too LOL

its definately a benefit to them as well as us to have this site be just the way it is

this is very cool though, its rather difficult to get into this hasbro Q and A thing many sites try a long long time to get in, We are now in a very small and exclusive club that has this privelage

so a big big big thank you to Hasbro for allowing us

I think the fact that we are the biggest international site out there and have been running so long ( way before my time ) was what got hasbro to say okay to us!

congrats Baron and thanks for pursuing the chance of us getting into it!!!

this bodes very well for UK and International fans and the characters we all love!

Yup, BFTB is in it's sixth year now! It was born on February 21st 2003. I also discovered yesterady that BFTB also stands for Bang For The Buck.

The forum was born on August 02 2002, as I assume was the toy archive (AFonline).

Maybe I should do a little commemorative plaque?

You used to cover Death's Head as well? Where was that hidden!!!!!!

I think this Hasbro Q&A is a major landmark in the influence of BFTB!!

We'll have the Red Shadows back in no time!!!

Sorry might be a little late but here go's
As the Red Shadows have been in the comic are there any plans to show any of the other UK characters such as Z Force?

Also the new GI Joe movie has a more international theme in it same as the UK Action Force did, will this have any influence on the comics in the future?

I can answer this one for you

buy GI JOE AMERICA'S ELITE issue #30 and youll see Quarrel of Z-Force Hunter of the SAS, Blades of the SAS and Moondancer of Space force ( in his version 2 Uniform )

EVERYONE on this board needs to buy this issue to show support of these characters

That was a big big thing for DDP to do for us UK Action Force fans!

um... in the comic archive...

It was back when BFTB was just the comics. It had Battle Action Force, Marvel Action Force, Sleeze Brothers and Death's Head. I replaced Sleeze Brothers with the Battle Specials as they asked me nicely; they were planning a relaunch. That was two years ago and nothing has happened, but they do have a nice site (to which I donated the scans and HTML - never did get my promised T-shirt) here: http://www.sleeze-brothers.com/. The Death's Head galleries I voluntarily took down when they were re-released as graphic novels.

1) Action Force and Red Shadow customs are proving to be ever popular, even though the toyline was cancelled 23 years ago. Red Laser has been voted into the final 3 for Hasbro's 25th anniversary custom figure contest. Given the extraordinary longevity of the concept, and the diehard devotion of the fanbase, why have there been no new Red Shadow designs created?

We are looking into bringing together the Joe Universe and finding a home for the Red Shadow…we agree that there are a ton of cool concepts from our international lines.

2) DDP's Rise of the Red Shadows had a very mixed reaction. While it was generally disliked by the GI Joe fanbase, it did increase people's interest in the range - BFTB's hit counter went from averaging 200-300 hits per month to over a thousand. In Europe the new Red Shadows were generally regarded as pale imitations. Is it fair to say the comic would have been more successful had the original character designs been used?

This is really a question that DDP can address; we can't speculate on what could have made a comic more successful.

3) Last year BFTB ran a "Save the Red Shadows" petition. DDP very graciously listened to our pleas for Wilder Vaughn to be retconned as an older Black Major, as evidenced by his uniform in America's Elite #34. Was the decision to reinvent the Red Shadows a direct result of reading the online comics at BFTB?

Our friends at DDP would have to answer this, but on the toy side, we understand that you want to bring the Red Shadows back and are looking into it.

4) Are there any plans to release the Devil's Due version Red Shadows as toys? They too have been widely embraced by GI Joe customisers.

There are no plans for this right now, but thanks for the idea.

5) The BFTB community has been hard at work recolouring the B&W Battle Action Force comic strips for over a year now. The project has proven to be extremely popular, resulting in a non-profit Collected Edition book. Is there any likelihood of these classic stories being officially reprinted, possibly as a comic and figure 3-pack?

There is currently no plan for this as it is really a niche group of folks who are interested and does not have mass appeal that would sell in the mainline product. We appreciate the passion from the folks at BFTB.
