Best vehicles we never got!

Post by Brakkart »

Thought this would make for an interesting discussion topic. since we have several threads on best/worst of the figures/vehicles that we got, this thread is a wish list of what vehicles from the later AF/Cobra ranges would you most have liked to see given repaints and joined the palitoy lineup? Heres my selection to get the ball rolling:

[EDIT: Added in links to the vehicles]

Enemy: Cobra Maggot (not surprising since I've just bought one on ebay to convert, along with its cool driver WORMS (bad name!) too. Thinking I'm gonna name him Red Fury, got no idea what I'm gonna call the vehicle though). http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/87/maggot/

Z Force: MBT Mauler (No such thing as too many tanks, and this one is a beauty, and it seats three). http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/85/mauler/

Q Force: WHALE Hovercraft (it was this or the Moray Hydrofoil and this ones bigger and would fit in well with the Swordfish). http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/84/whale/

Space Force: Space Shuttle Defiant Complex (would explain how they get up there, as none of their vehicles thus far were really designed for atmospheric flight... well apart from the large Triad section which seats one). http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/87/defiant/

SAS Force: Tomahawk Helicopter (Perfect for transporting a covert team, would look awesome in black and grey camo, and has enough firepower to lay the smack on just about anything if it gets spotted whilst inserting the team. Plus it would give Chopper something to fly!). http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/86/tomahawk/

What would the rest of you have liked to see?

hmm, good question. i once thought about painting a HAVOC and making the Shadowtrack II:

also, how about a Shadows base:

or a Q Force HQ:

your ideas are cool too, especially the Defiant for the Space Force.
ill keep thinking on this one...

and for the Maggot, how about calling it the "Plague"
also, one more thing, the MBT Mauler holds 2, not 3 :)

it would of been good to have seen the cash straped Palitoy create some original designs for the second releases. But realistic (almost) designs like a Harrier and a base for each of the teams. Imagine a Shadow base with the Roboskull on the landing pad

The name escapes me but there is a company who specialises in highly accurate 12" figures (like Dragon but not) who are now making detailed planes tanks and helicopers at the same scale as AF, some of these would have been cool, or the space force ships being more military based like the drop ship in aliens.

Ahh my mistake.

As for the Maggot repaint I'm gonna name it the Shadow Hammer! It will have two crew, Red Fury (made from the WORMS figure) and Red Lightning (A Red Laser but with a black faceplate and some added detail).

Also gonna do a repaint of a Water Moccassin.

Shadow Hammer is cool - good choice, as are Red Fury and Red Lightning

A Shadow Water Mocassin would look good and fill a big hole in the Shadow's forces. Look forward to seeing it.

Going back to Plastik's last post I've had a few thought on bases using ideas from films:

The Shadow base would have to be an extinct volcano (like Blofeld's base in You Only Live Twice or Dr Evil's base in Austin Powers II).

Q Force should be based at Sea, on something like Stromberg's Oil Tanker from in the Spy Who Loved Me (Big bow doors opening to reveal a hidden dock) you could think of it as a seagoing version of the cloudbase in Captain Scarlett.

Space Force would be either a Space Station (2001 Style) or a Moonbase (Think Space 1999's Moonbase Alpha)
It's good to be back

:cmmdr: Action Force STILL Needs You! :cmmdr:

Hmmm Q Force would fit well with a GI Joe ship from the Marvel comic book then. They had for a fair while the USS Jane, a converted trawler that housed all sorts of goodies, including auto cannons to shoot down incoming missiles, a fixed Missile Launcher (just like the SAS one) hidden in a crate on the stern deck, the bow doors opened to release the Whale Hovercraft (or could be the Swordfish) and the aft end housed a dock for the Sharc (Flying Submarine or coul be the Sealion). It also had a helipad on it. True not really something that you could have as a toy, but would have rocked in the comic book. Ohh yeah and it had extendable hydrofoils too, but that was just silly :)

Arrgghhh no, not Space $19.99 (meaning the average budget for an episode)!!

I never realised that there were so many cool GI Joe vehicles, has anybody tried to repaint any into action force teams?

Heh nah, if Baron Ironblood wanted a new 8-wheeler to replace the Shadowtrak my vote would go for this sucker!!

Easily one of my favourite GI Joe vehicles, even if it is somewhat ridiculous!
