Who considers the Marvel stuff as legitimately following the Battle Action Force series? I know that I do. I'm not aware of any major inconsistencies, except for the fact that Destro does seem to be Scottish instead of Ukranian (like "Red Jackal", his former alias)...

(Well, we know that the Marvel Action Force shifted the paradigm so as to reprint the American comics with a mimimum of "audience loss".)
What if Red Jackal became Darklon or Voltar?

Yeah to justify such heresy would require the burning of the Western canon. Tracing Flint's genealogy back to Skip? Gives me a headache just thinking about it

Let me set aside the nausea and merely suggest that there's bound to be some loon out there desperate to give doctrinal coherence to the post-85 mess... Skip - wears DPM and a beret; Flint - sort of wears DPM and a beret. Inductive logic can run riot in such circumstances...

And it's the hairshirt for you, Quickfire.
Next you'll be saying Cobra Commander is Baron Ironblood!!

Nat?rlich I deny all accusations! I suppose Cobra Commander is allegedly the former Baron Ironblood... But I never believed all that disinformation in 85 and I won't believe it now 20 years later!!! He was just a media construct foisted on us by a lazy and unimaginative gang of killjoy child toy marketeers whose idea of fun was to stand in a warehouse randomly putting Cobra and AF stickers on otherwise perfectly good merchandise and chucking in the odd figure here and there while authorising the total screwing up of storylines in BAF. Was that really necessary? Couldn't they just have had all the stuff marketed as a separate line? Cretins.
Yours ever in denial

There's usually a series of continuity clashes in any form of fiction, especially if creative teams change.
Do they tie in together? Well if you want them to. However there's two major hurdles that require retconning...
1. Ironblood becomes CC, RJ becomes Destro
Retcon: The events of that comic are the mythology - the tale that is told by people. In actuality Ironblood struck a deal with CC - he would stop his Red Shadow war (which competes with Cobra) for a huge financial pay off (perhaps Ironblood was running out of money). However Ironblood would only do this if he was playing the long game and going underground would later prove to his advantage.
2. The AF nationalities
Retcon: Birthplaces represent the 'official' declassified birthplaces. For whatever reason, some US operatives (Scarlett, Roadblock) were assigned international birthplaces temporarily.
Beyond those issues, the continuity can go from BAf to MAF. If nothing else the retconning may lead to fan fic projects in the future (I did have no. 1 planned with MAF characters. I'm wondering though whether an origin story with RS and movie Joes would be better)
